The Rim of the Mercedes Mini – A Piece of Art

De tous les modèles de petites voitures fabriquées par Alpha en Pologne, la Mercedes 500SL mini (ou ou 560SL mini) est certainement celle qui possède les jantes les plus belles et les plus sophistiquées. Plutôt que de simples jantes embouties en acier comme sur les nombreux autres modèles, les jantes sont en aluminium et représentent de manière stylisée l’étoile à 3 branches du logo Mercedes.

Von allen Kleinwagenmodellen, die von Alpha in Polen hergestellt wurden, ist der Mercedes 500SL mini (bzw. 560SL mini) sicherlich derjenige mit den schönsten und anspruchsvollsten Felgen. Statt einfacher tiefgezogener Stahlfelgen wie bei vielen anderen Modellen sind die Felgen aus Aluminium gefertigt und stellen stilistisch den dreizackigen Stern des Mercedes-Logos dar.

Of all the small car models manufactured by Alpha in Poland, the Mercedes 500SL mini (or 560SL mini) is certainly the one with the most beautiful and sophisticated rims. Rather than stamped steel rims as on many other models, the rims are made of aluminium and stylistically represent the 3-pointed star of the Mercedes logo.

Malheureusement il manquait une roue lors de l’achat de ma première 500SL mini. Ce post montre un très beau travail pour recréer une jante manquante. Merci infiniment à mon ami Hanspeter Kessler, patron de l’entreprise file to part gmbh qui a travaillé dur pour fabriquer une jante totalement identique aux jantes originales.

Il s’agit tout d’abord de prendre les cotes et dessiner le modèle numérique en 3D.

Als ich meinen ersten 500SL mini kaufte, fehlte leider ein Rad. Dieser Beitrag zeigt eine sehr schöne Arbeit zur Nachbildung einer fehlenden Felge. Vielen Dank an meinen Freund Hanspeter Kessler, Chef der Firma file to part gmbh, der sich die Mühe gemacht hat, eine Felge anzufertigen, die absolut identisch mit den Originalfelgen ist.

Der erste Schritt besteht darin, die Maße zu nehmen und das digitale Modell in 3D zu zeichnen.

Unfortunately a wheel was missing when I bought my first 500SL mini. This post shows a very nice work to recreate a missing rim. Many thanks to my friend Hanspeter Kessler, owner of the company file to part gmbh, who worked hard to make a rim completely identical to the original rims.

The first step is to take the dimensions and draw the digital model in 3D.

Il faut ensuite utiliser tour et machine CNC pour façonner la matière brute.

Das Rohmaterial wird dann auf einer Drehbank und CNC-Maschine bearbeitet.

The raw material is then processed on a lathe and CNC machine.

Le résultat encore pratiquement brut est superbe.

Das Ergebnis, das noch fast roh ist, ist großartig.

The result, which is still almost raw, is superb.

Après un léger polissage, le résultat est vraiment magnifique et à la hauteur du travail fourni et du temps passé sur les diverses machines!

Nach einer leichten Politur ist das Ergebnis wirklich prächtig und entspricht der geleisteten Arbeit und der an den verschiedenen Maschinen verbrachten Zeit!

After a light polishing, the result is really magnificent and equal to the work done and the time spent on the various machines!

Il manquait aussi la plupart des écrous et des rondelles avec profil spécifique pour la fixation des roues. Ceux-ci ont été fabriqués en acier inoxydable puis polis à la main.

Außerdem fehlten die meisten Muttern und Unterlegscheiben mit spezifischen Profilen für die Radbefestigung. Diese wurden aus rostfreiem Stahl gefertigt und anschließend von Hand poliert.

Also missing were most of the nuts and washers with specific profiles for fixing the wheels. These were made of stainless steel and then polished by hand.
